It was on a superb sunny day that around fifteen members of the France – Great Britain association met, Friday October 4, at the start of the greenway in Mercuès for a bike ride towards Luzech.
Autumnal colors, fresh breeze and magnificent landscapes in the middle of the vineyards punctuated this first sporting section.
A first stop was then necessary at the Vinovalie cooperative cellar located on the greenway in Parnac. Fabienne welcomed the group in a very stylish tasting and sales area, with an impressive view of more than 1,200 barrels. On the program, tasting of the cellar’s products, in moderation, purchase of bottles for some then getting back on the bikes and continuing the expedition towards the second stop, the restaurant Quai n° 5 in Luzech, located on the edge of the river, with its excellent unique menu homemade by Sonia.
Heritage visit
After lunch, the group then went to the Notre-Dame de l’Île chapel, surrounded by vineyards, where the local manager Mr. Cavalié was waiting for them. He very kindly showed the group the interior of the chapel and told the fascinating history of this building to a captivated audience.
Then 4 p.m. struck and it was time to return to Mercuès. The participants returned to their four-wheeled vehicles, a little tired, but with superb images in their heads.
An appointment has been made for spring 2025 to discover new landscapes by bike on other sections of the greenway towards Prayssac and Puy-l’Évêque.
