Remco Evenepoel for a double in the men’s category, Ganna and Tarling in ambush

In men, the 2024 World Championships time trials offer a 46-kilometer course Zurich. Despite the presence of a small bump, it is the specialists who will go for the world title. As a result, Remco Evenepoel (Belgium) appears to be the big favourite for his proposed succession. The Belgian champion has won almost all the time trials he has participated in (except the last one of the Tour de , which was very hilly, editor’s note). Recently, he won the two Olympic titles in , beating his two direct competitors rather easily.

Filippo Ganna (Italy) is losing momentum this year. Double world time trial champion (2020 and 2021), he is struggling to compete against the new competition including Evenepoel is part of. If he imposed himself this year on the Tour and in his national championship, the Italian seems a notch below. The unknown remains in Joshua Tarling (Great Britain). Crowned European champion and bronze medallist last year in the time trial, the Briton has been rather discreet this season. Abandoned in The Vueltahe had taken 6th place in the opening time trial. It remains to be seen whether the 20-year-old rider has managed to raise his level to compete in the 2024 World Championships has Zurich.

2024 World Championships: Who will win the women’s title?

Who will go for the title of 2024 World Championships women’s time trial? This Sunday, September 22, the race seems very open with many entrants capable of going for the title. Chloe Dygert (USA), the reigning world champion, has not won since her title last year in Great Britain, due to an Achilles tendon injury and a Covid infection…

However, the American is a true specialist in this event and is, by default, one of the big favourites. She will find on her path the Olympic champion of the discipline, Grace Brown (Australia). For the last races of her career, the Australian would like to take the world title, after finishing second twice… Behind, it’s jostling with Half Vollering (The Netherlands), Lotte Kopecky (Belgium) or even Juliette Labous (France).
