Despite his recent troubles, Filippo Ganna will do the time trial
In the time trial, the two selected are Filippo Gannadoubly crowned in 2020 and 2021, and Eduardo Affiniwho will dispute his Fifth World Championships. While the latter recently showed that he was in great shape by becoming European time trial champion in Hasselt, the former has had a difficult last few weeks and will therefore not arrive in full confidence at these 2024 World Championships. In women, Elisa Longo Borghini will clearly be Italy’s best asset in the road race, and the very recent second in the St Feuillien Grand Prix of Wallonia will even be one of the big favorites to wear the rainbow jersey.
