The automotive sector, historically dominated by men, is facing a major challenge: that of diversity. For Soraya Anrar, director of activities at Guichet Carte Grise, equality remains a major issue to be addressed.
With 78% of jobs held by men, is the automotive industry forced to evolve to integrate more women?
I have seen up close the diversity of talents and skills needed to move this sector forward. However, the underrepresentation of women remains worrying and calls for in-depth reflection and concrete actions. Diversity is a performance lever. Studies show that diversity, particularly gender diversity, is a performance lever for companies. It stimulates innovation, improves decision-making and increases employee satisfaction. In a constantly evolving sector like the automobile industry, these advantages are even more crucial.
Despite this, women continue to face significant barriers to entering and progressing in this field…
Gender stereotypes, the lack of female role models and unconscious prejudices are all obstacles that limit their access and progress. Initiatives exist to encourage diversity in the automobile industry. Mentoring programs, awareness campaigns and inclusion policies are all steps in the right direction. However, these efforts often remain isolated and lack large-scale coordination. To bring about real change, it is crucial to bring together these initiatives and integrate them into a global strategy supported by all players in the sector.

-What concrete actions for an inclusive future?
To achieve real diversity, several areas of action must be prioritized: encouraging young girls to pursue technical and scientific studies from an early age, promoting women leaders in the sector and developing mentoring programs to support new recruits, implement recruitment and promotion policies that promote diversity and inclusion, and ensure their rigorous application, finally, organize training and awareness campaigns to deconstruct gender prejudices and promote an environment inclusive work.
Gender diversity in the automotive sector is not only a question of fairness, but also of competitiveness and innovation…
This is why collective commitment is necessary. As players in this sector, we all have a role to play in meeting this challenge. It’s time to put words into action and create an environment where every talent, regardless of gender, can flourish and contribute fully. Together, we can make the automotive sector a more inclusive, more diverse and more efficient sector. The future of our industry depends on it.
