For the first time since 2018, the price list for the Vélo'v self-service bicycle service is changing. With increasing prices on several offers. These increases include traditional annual subscriptions and per-minute rates.
This new grid, justifies the Métropole de Lyon, takes into account “the increase in the number of stations (30 additional, editor’s note)”, and “service developments”.
Classic subscriptions revised upwards
Since this Wednesday 1is January 2025, therefore, classic annual subscriptions cost more. The full price goes from €31 to €39, and the youth offer (14-25 years old) from €16.50 to €19.50. On the other hand, the Metropolis is not increasing the cost of its solidarity formula (€15), nor the prices of single (€1.80) and day (€4) tickets.
Driving electric costs less than before
The prices of “Electric Vélo’v” subscriptions, for their part, are decreasing. Thus, the standard offer goes from €115 to €99 per year. The youth rate drops from €100 to €78. The solidarity formula is maintained at €49.20.
The Metropolis thus intends to support the “transition to the new generation” of electrically assisted bicycles, with integrated battery and automatic recharging at the station. The deployment of this 2.0 fleet, by the delegatee JCDecaux, is scheduled for January 29, 2025.
Note that beyond six journeys per day, obtaining an electric Vélo'v will be charged €1 for each additional journey.
Other good news for cyclists: it is now possible to pay monthly for your Vélo'v subscription. And this, whether the biclou is electric or not. An option “which corresponds more to new consumption patterns”, judges the Metropolis. For example, for an offer of €39 per year, you will be charged €3.25 each month.
Per-minute rates are less advantageous
At the same time, per-minute billing is increasing. Beyond 30 minutes of free use, and regardless of the bike used (mechanical or electric), the price increases from €0.05 to €0.10 for the first half hour, from €0.10 to €0. €15 for the 2nd half hour, and €0.15 to €0.20 thereafter.
