Ossun. Enthusiastic telethon: a resumption full of promise

After a few years of break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we didn't really know what to expect for this 2024 edition of the Telethon in Ossun. But the Ossunois who responded did so with enthusiasm!

The activities, always focused on physical engagement, were moderately followed by the population. Albert Menginou's traditional night walk saw a strong participation, favored by ideal weather conditions. The valiant Ossun in costume also attracted many spectators. The soups, the mulled wine (Sylviane and Marcelle), the pancakes, offered by the gym club, Amio, were able to warm the bodies and the hearts.

On Saturday, despite low mobilization for the morning walk and mountain bike route, the meal masterfully organized by the festival committee brought together a good audience. The refreshment bar run by the parents of students at the Paul Guth school was also full. The Desmans Pipers who came directly from Scotland (via the Pyrenees) with their bagpipes surprised and delighted the audience, the Rampe Ossunoise also contributed to the festive atmosphere. In the afternoon, the various activities offered by the firefighters (truck ride and mini course), bikers, pétanque players and musical groups delighted the public. Josiane even broke her raffle ticket sales record! The only downside was that the “rope climb” did not generate as much enthusiasm since we only reached 156 meters out of the 366 meters which was the set objective.

The evening at the church, with the magnificent performance of the Mandolinata, unfortunately did not bring together as many people as hoped, but the public present asked for more.

Sunday morning, the orientation course, organized by Rémy Viot of the French Hiking Federation, brought together around twenty participants in good spirits. The morning ended with an aperitif offered by the town hall and the drawing of the raffle with numerous prizes received from generous donors. Although the objective of 366 meters of rope climbed was not achieved, Albert Menginou was able to donate 4,174.68 euros to the Telethon thanks to the diversity of the activities offered.

We thank all the associations and people who did everything to make this Telethon a success.

See you next year for even more massive participation from Ossunois
