The setting of the emblematic basketball hall “Le Palacium” in Villeneuve d’Ascq (59), a mecca for French basketball in recent years (French Champion and 2024 European Vice-Champion) was chosen by the ANDES for training time for local elected officials on the theme of financing sports equipment.
On this Tuesday, December 17, the ten local elected officials present had the chance to attend ESBVA training on the eve of a European Cup match, and to speak for a few minutes with Rachid MEZIANE , local coach. The latter, who will soon be leaving for the WNBA, will be the first French head coach in this legendary American championship. A nice early Christmas gift made possible thanks in particular to the strong relationship between Mr. Farid OUKAID, deputy mayor in charge of sports in the city, and this coach.
For this last training course in 2024, the training organization requested the presence of speakers from DRAJES Hauts-de-France, the Fondation du Sport Français and BPCE. The discussions around the budgetary context and financing solutions were rich and much appreciated by the participants.
This training on the financing of sports equipment will be deployed again during the first half of 2025, as will other themes such as the community/club relationship, the mandate review and the local sports project.
