While he was still President of the United States in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Donald Trump allegedly sent screening tests to Vladimir Putin even though his own country lacked them. This is one of the revelations made by journalist Bob Woodward in his book “War”, which will be published on October 15.

Questioned on the subject this Tuesday in the program “The Late Show”, Kamala Harris reacted vigorously and was not kind to her opponent in the race for the White House, reports the HuffPost. “Do you remember this period? Remember how many people didn’t have a test? People were dying by the hundreds every day,” began the Democratic candidate facing Stephen Colbert.

“He openly admires dictators”

Kamala Harris recalled that Donald Trump had always maintained a good relationship with Vladimir Putin, as with several other dictators, such as Viktor Orbán or Kim Jong-un. “He thinks Putin is his friend. What about the Americans? », declared the candidate. “They should be his first friend.” »

These remarks were made as part of a broader exchange about the former president’s diplomatic relations. “Trump openly admires dictators and authoritarian leaders,” recalled Kamala Harris. “He’s being had. He admires the so-called “strong men” and he gets fooled because they flatter him or do him favors. »

Since 2021 and the end of Donald Trump’s presidential mandate, the latter and Putin have spoken seven times, according to revelations from Bob Woodward, the journalist who uncovered the Watergate scandal. “None of these fabricated stories are true,” a Trump spokesperson denied, calling the journalist “truly demented and unhinged.”
