Nothing like movement to alleviate fear. As residents of the peaceful community of Montecito prepare for possible power outages and the dire prospect of having to leave their homes if the fires spread, Harry and Meghan are busy. After a press release published this Thursday on their website, calling for help to be offered to the thousands of victims of the fires, they set an example of themselves.
“If a friend, loved one or pet needs to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, do not hesitate to do so. And don’t forget to ask your disabled or elderly neighbors if they need help evacuating,” they said.
“Please consider donating clothing, toys and children’s clothing and other essentials”

According to the Telegraphthe couple reportedly walked their talk by providing clothing, children’s items and other basic necessities to those affected. They are also in contact with chef José Andrés, whose organization World Central Kitchen provides meals to communities affected by natural disasters.
As for their Archewell Foundation, it would work to “seek volunteer opportunities where necessary”, “support the mental health” of victims, as well as to “identify the most effective ways to support the community”. So many noble goals, but rather vague, for the moment.
Shelter in Montecito
More surprising and otherwise more concrete? The Duke and Duchess opened the doors of their beloved Montecito home to friends and loved ones forced to evacuate, according to the magazine People. It must be said that they have room: the property, acquired in 2020 for $14.65 million and which would today be worth almost twice as much, according to the Zillow site, has no less than nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms.

It is also likely to experience power outages due to a “red flag warning and increased risk of wildfires.” “Affected customers” were contacted in a number of communities, “including Montecito,” the company continues at Telegraph.
For now, however, the couple have not received any orders to evacuate and are still safe at home with their two young children, Archie and Lilibet, from their refugees.
