“I was outed and the Earth continues to spin. » American R&B star Khalid came out as gay in a series of posts on social media, after a former partner revealed their story against his will. “Let me be clear, I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it's nobody's business. But I’m OK with myself,” writes the 26-year-old artist.
A revelation which follows a message posted on X by another man, claiming to be a former companion of the singer with 51 million monthly listens on the Spotify platform. “I dated this idiot singer […] he tried to trick me, lie and say I broke into his house because I broke up with him,” the message read, along with a photo of the then-couple.
“It’s just absolutely none of your business”
This post, widely relayed, has since been deleted, as BFMTV points out. But it was enough to provoke strong reactions. “Wait, I hope Khalid isn’t gay?” », exclaimed one Internet user. “I am!” And that’s OK,” Khalid responded directly. “I never hid it. It’s just absolutely none of your business,” the artist adds.
Nominated for the next Grammy Awards, Khalid unveiled his third album, entitled Sincerein August, and asserts himself as one of the most promising R & B artists of his generation across the Atlantic, where this culture is particularly popular. During the American presidential campaign, he openly supported Kamala Harris.
