Sylvester Stallone praises the merits of Donald Trump, “a second George Washington”

Donald Trump likes strong men. After being supported by Hulk Hogan during his victorious campaign, the new president-elect was dubbed by Rocky. Or rather Sylvester Stallone. During a gala organized this Thursday, November 15 in the Trumpian residence of Mar-a-Lago, in Florida, the actor with big arms delivered a somewhat surreal speech about the president-elect before welcoming him on stage. “We are in the presence of a mythical character and I love mythology,” said the American actor after daring the comparison with Jesus Christ and his boxer character in the cinema. “No one in the world would have achieved what he has just achieved. I'm fascinated. »

Pushing the envelope ever further, Stallone dared to compare himself with another mythical figure in American history, the first president of the United States, from 1789 to 1797: “When George Washington was defending his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world. Without him, we cannot imagine what the world would be like. We have a second George Washington. Congratulations ! »

To the applause of the audience, Donald Trump joined the star to the sound of God Bless The U.S.A.the patriotic song of Lee Greenwood already played after his first speech following his victory over Kamala Harris. This astonishing scene took place during a gala organized by the America First Policy Institute, a conservative think tank founded in 2021 to promote the ideas and third candidacy of Donald Trump for the White House.

Member of the Trump administration?

Seeing Stallone glorify Donald Trump to this extent is not so surprising, however. He had already proclaimed his admiration for the president-elect in an interview given in 2016 to Varietycomparing it to « a Dickensian character.

In 2016, the New York Times had revealed that Donald Trump, newly elected, had asked Sylvester Stallone to join his administration. He would have offered to take control of the National Fund for the Arts, the organization which manages all federal state subsidies to the cultural world. But the actor reportedly refused. Would he accept if the same offer were made to him today?

If Stallone also matters to Trump, it is because he is one of the very rare figures in Hollywood to have agreed to support the Republican. Most of the stars who agreed to step up and take sides supported Kamala Harris. Including Beyonce, Taylor Swift and even Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California and eternal rival of the Rambo interpreter in the cinema.
