with Eye Haïdara and Pio Marmaï, love at a hundred miles an hour in a submarine

Phew love is their story: a cabin attendant who boards a submarine in pursuit of an officer who catches his eye. This is the pitch for Lucas Bernard's romantic comedy which hits theaters on November 6. Stormy evening rhymes with love at first sight for Marco (Pio Marmaï) and Marianne (Eye Haïdara) in At full speed.

The kiss, which they are about to exchange, gives wings to Marco. He decides to go after Marianne and finds himself locked in a tactical submarine. For neophytes like our steward, this means that he is carrying the atomic weapon and that in fact we do not enter like a mill or because we have seen light. The cabin manager doesn't care except when the ship descends into the depths.

It's not In pursuit of Red October but there is red and speed in the story. At full speed doesn't let the viewer catch their breath. Immediate boarding for a spicy comedy with crafted dialogue and soon-to-be cult lines. Blue flowers will love. Pio Marmaï plays Marco's casualness with panache, and Eye Haïdara makes Marianne a woman who must be resolutely convinced. The duo delivers.

But it's not just them that we fall in love with. The supporting roles are also a treat. Commander Benazech, played by José Garcia, is worth the detour. Just like Fred, colleague and best friend of Marianne to whom Victor Pontecorvo gives flesh with infinite tenderness. The entire cast hits the mark in At full speed.

Lucas Bernard's staging in this narrow space that constitutes the submarine is lively and full of twists and turns. He manages to produce a lively and funny comedy based on original situations. The singing sequences are also a great find. The director, who also wrote the film, scratches the surface a little about women who would remain a mystery to men. We forgive him, because this presumed character serves the plot. All this contributes to declaring At full speed romantic comedy of the year. Evil tongues will say that it's a bit easy as there are few in French cinema who have decreed that love stories always end badly in general for decades.

To find the equivalent of Bernard's film, you have to go back to 2021 with Tender and rare of Christopher Thompson with the wonderful Géraldine Pailhas and Arnaud Ducret. And turn to American romantic comedies. You should therefore not shy away from your pleasure. Run to the movie theaters At full speed (too easy, but inevitable).
