Why did you participate in the show “Le Meilleur Pâtissier”?

“I always watched this show and always loved baking. When I separated, I told myself it’s time to do what I always wanted to do. It was great: meeting people who have the same passion as me and doing something out of the ordinary. »

How did the casting take place?

“I tried at the end of 2023 because I saw that they were launching the casting. They asked for a video. Then, I had a telephone interview then a casting in where I had to bring back two cakes. Following that, we had a testing in a vocational high school in Paris where we had to present a board with cakes, biscuits… And I learned of my selection in February 2024. I was super happy, I didn’t really believe it. »

And your son Ilario, how did he react to your participation?

“I bake for him so when I told him he was super happy. He knows the show so he won’t miss one. I showed him the video that M6 broadcast and where I talk about him with Laëtitia Milot, he was in tears. It surprised me because he was so moved. I think what moves him is seeing that I’m talking about him. He is very happy to see me on the show and to see himself there too. »

What are your pastry specialties?

“What I like are the classics of French pastry: choux, Saint-Honoré, lemon meringue tarts… And for my son, a cake where there will definitely be caramel in it. »

What memories do you have from the shoot?

“It was an exceptional experience. Everyone was very nice, whether it was Cyril Lignac, Mercotte, Laëtitia and the film crew. LMP is truly a family. Limit, we helped each other! I made real friends who I still talk to every day. We saw each other again after filming and will see each other again. »

Has your military side, a crossfit enthusiast, served you?

“In terms of physical condition, yes it was useful to me because I was running everywhere! I’ve never run so much! I was running so much that I was wasting time because I was just running back and forth looking for utensils or something. »

What was your initial goal?

“My main objective was not to go out first. That was really what I didn’t want. And in fact the more the weeks passed, the more I told myself I shouldn’t start in the top five. Afterwards, I didn’t have to go out with him, etc.! But everyone had this goal. »

Have you watched some clips yet and what did you think?

“Yes and they managed to broadcast clips of me smiling even though I’m quite shy. It was very complicated to have the cameras trained on you and to have to talk while suffering. »

What particular memory will you keep of the “Best Pastry Chef”?

“Arriving in the tent… After seeing it on TV, it’s weird. We don’t even believe it. I would love to do it again! »

Do you want to start your own baking business after this experience?

“Since everyone knows that I participated in the show, people ask me for cakes for birthdays and other things. It’s crazy stuff! And I don’t dare say no so I find myself making cakes for everyone! »
