“What an era!” – Jean-Pierre Foucault confides: “My father was taken down in the street”

This is a little-known moment in the life of Jean-Pierre Foucault. The dramatic one of the assassination of his fatherin Algiers, in 1962. Guest of the show What an era! this Saturday, October 5, the television host returned to this tragic event which made him become “adult at 14“.

When Jean-Pierre Foucault was young, his father had an import-export business in , with branches in the Maghreb and several other African cities. “One day, my father left for Algiers” for work. “It was February 22, 1962“, he explains.

That day, his father “was taken down in the streetwith a bullet in the back, and a bullet in the neck”, says Jean-Pierre Foucault, before adding that “we never knew why“he was murdered.

On the other hand, the former presenter of Who wants to make millions? specifies that the former Secretary of State for Veterans and Memory “Patricia Mirallès gave me an invaluable gift: she found all the documents” relating to the case, as well as “the registration number of the car who stormed off after my father’s assassination.”

Despite this, “I never knew why“. This murder was “for me, for my sisters, for my mother, quite violent, but a page was turned and I became an adult quite young”, concludes Jean-Pierre Foucault.
