39-year-old Zhanna Samsonova was widely followed on social networks where she extolled the merits of the raw food diet. Did his diet actually hide anorexia nervosa?
Russian influencer Zhanna Samsonova, star of raw food, has died at the age of 39. The reasons for her death are unknown, but her friends and family, interviewed by the “New York Post”, affirm it: Zhanna Samsonova “starved to death”.
On social networks, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, the one who called herself “Zhanna d’Art” advocated raw food, namely the fact of eating only raw food. But if the young woman described herself as a real “chef” specializing in these dishes, her friends assure that she actually only ate exotic fruits that grew on the island and had been doing so for at least 4 years.
And when we take a look at her Instagram page, we realize that she was hardly eating anymore. On May 16, Zhanna shared a video of her meal. “What do I eat for my lunch because I’m a fruitarian? Whole melon and fresh squeezed carrot juice”, she writes in the caption of her video, where she appears very thin.
In Russian media, a relative of Zhanna Samsonova said he met her a few months before her death in Sri Lanka, and he explains: “She already looked haggard, her legs swollen, lymphatic water dripping from them… They sent her home for treatment. But she ran away. When I saw her in Phuket, I was horrified. I lived on the floor above and every day I was afraid that I would find her body in the morning. I convinced her of the treatment. But she did not have time “.
On Instagram, many Internet users wonder if Zhanna did not suffer from anorexia nervosa, a disease that is part of eating disorders. “Any extreme nutritional system is not about health. And first of all – not MENTAL health. It’s a pity that falling into the system of eating disorders, a person loses sight of his condition”, writes a woman. “She died of anorexia nervosa concealed by a raw food diet”wrote another.
According to her mother, the influencer would have died of a “cholera” type infection. But was his raw food diet actually hiding anorexia?
