Winning the “Star Academy” with 65% of the votes is anything but “Ordinary” like you sang it at the very first prime. Does it sweep away a little this permanent doubt that seems to never leave you?

I don’t really realize what that represents. Is that a lot? It’s a lot, I think (laughs). But in truth, even that doesn’t remove too much doubt for me. I still ask myself lots of questions. Should Ebony have won? Do I really deserve victory? I know that lack of confidence is something I need to work on. I will succeed, I believe in it.

Among all your performances in three months, many will remember this surprise duet with Clara Luciani on “J’sais pas parfait” at the start of the season. What do you think pleased the viewers who gave you the trophy?

I admit that I don’t really know. I think what comes through a lot beyond my voice is my personality. The fact that I am natural, my humor is quite spontaneous. It’s obvious that voice matters, but I think that as people see us live from morning to night, they also become attached to a person. So, I would say a mix between voice and personality.

We felt you were a little feverish at the start of the show yesterday. How did you experience this final?

I was stressed. It’s true that it was a big issue. Beyond the victory, I wanted to do well and succeed in my performances. I was perhaps a little unsettled at first because when we arrived in the crowd, our two first names were being shouted a bit. It was difficult to know where to stand, I had the impression that it was super tight. I wasn’t anywhere else, I was mainly focused.

You ultimately didn’t experience the announcement of the Miss pageant-style results with Ebony, holding your hands. We saw her moved to tears. What did you say to yourself once the cameras were cut?

We had started to do it but we were so stressed that we decided to look straight ahead. We said well done, that we loved each other and that we were really happy with this evening, that we both deserved it and that we wished each other a career, winning or not, that it continues for us.

Ebony, was she the best possible finalist?

Yes, I find it. Afterwards, everyone was good. There were a lot of incredible candidates. Frankly, it was difficult to decide. I had no doubt that Ebony would make it to the final but I didn’t imagine that it would be against me. It was the best for me.

You weren’t planning to go to the final when you entered the Castle?

No. Each week that passed, I didn’t necessarily envisage living the next one. I didn’t think I would go this far. I couldn’t have asked for better. I didn’t expect it, that’s for sure.

In hindsight, maybe it’s not a bad thing that they didn’t turn around in “The Voice Kids.”

Your first words after the victory were: “Mom, I won!” Did you make a bet with your parents if you won?

No not at all. I panicked a little. I want to make my parents proud, it was also for them. Even them, I don’t think they imagined that I would go all the way to victory. We hadn’t talked about it too much.

This week you shared something very hard with Ebony. You came to say to yourself: “I missed out on my life because I will never do what I really wanted to do and I will never live from my passion”. Is this the first time you tried to be cast for “Star Ac”?

Yes, I admit that I had given up a little. Friends told me: “You should sign up, it’s for you”. It was good because I was just finishing my studies in dental surgery. I registered on the Internet not necessarily thinking that I would be called back. But in the end, I did well!

What would the 14-year-old Marine, who failed the blind auditions for “The Voice Kids,” think of the one who had just won “Star Academy”?

I don’t think she would believe it. It’s true that in hindsight, it’s perhaps not any worse that they didn’t turn around because it allowed me to live my life and now to access that. It’s crazy! Honestly, I think she would be happy.

And what would you like to say to this teenager who must have been a little disappointed at the time?

Knowing that, I think I would tell him to let time pass and take things as they come. Or maybe to be a little less hard on herself.

Lisa from the group Blackpink, K-pop star, told you that you shouldn’t lock yourself into one style. The “Star Academy” has already changed your tastes by moving from vocal songs to something else… How do you imagine your first album?

I’m very happy because the objective when arriving at “Star Ac” was precisely to challenge myself, to discover things that I had never done. I would like there to be a mixture of several worlds that I like on my album. Things that are more emotional, with perhaps piano-vocals, and more danceable, rhythmic and electronic songs like I was able to do with Charlotte Cardin and Helena in the show. I don’t have all the ideas yet. I’ll have to think about it.

On the other hand, there is no need to reflect on the success of “My fault”, which already has more than 3 million plays on Spotify alone. Do you have any other songs in stock?

Of course I have other songs on my computer that I wrote around the same time. Some only have the lyrics, others only have the instrumental. I have to bring it all out but there’s quite a bit. Another one is also completely finished.

You have visited the Zénith de Lille with 1 p.m. on TF1 the day you learned that you were joining the Château. You will perform 5 times in this room with your comrades from the “Star Ac” tour. “All By Myself” is THE performance you dream of doing again every night?

So I don’t know if it’s the dream for my vocal cords to do it every night but it’s true that it would be impressive. I don’t know the programming yet but it could be nice to have it there. Or a song just as vocal but a little less difficult. “I Am What I Am” would be good too.

Are you looking ahead to the tour?

Yes, strangely enough, we were already thinking about it even at the Château when we were getting closer to the end. I can’t wait, I don’t know at all what to expect. Obviously, I have never done that! It’s going to be a completely different adventure than the Castle.

I’m not going to change! I don’t do it too much on purpose. It’s spontaneous, maybe a little too much sometimes. It will be the same, except that we will no longer be in a castle but in a tour bus.

Like Amir, is your career as a dentist definitely behind you?

(laughs) It’s true that this is what we have in common. That’s all I wish for myself but the dream can end as quickly as it started. So if this ever stops, I can still be a dentist. I will pass my thesis in any case, so as not to have done all these years of study for nothing and to still graduate with a doctorate. This will be my backup plan. For now, I would like to put it aside.
