Princess Caroline celebrates her 68th birthday!

On the occasion of Princess Caroline’s sixty-eighth birthday, this Thursday, January 23, our media wanted to look back on the significant moments of her life.

Born in 1957 from the emblematic union between Prince Rainier III and American actress Grace Kelly, Princess Caroline grew up in the spotlight, but also within the constraints of a demanding monarchy.

From a very young age, her strong-willed temperament was evident: at 21, she defied her parents by choosing to study in , far from family expectations. It was also during this period that she married Philippe Junot, a broker much older than her, in a controversial marriage which ended in divorce two years later.

Despite the trials, the Princess found stability with the Italian entrepreneur Stefano Casiraghi, with whom she shared a happy life and gave birth to three children: Andrea, Charlotte and Pierre Casiraghi.

But fate takes its course when she becomes a widow at just 33 years old, after the tragic death of Stefano Casiraghi in a racing accident. True to her courage, Princess Caroline overcomes this loss by focusing on her children and continuing her cultural commitment to Monaco.

A few years later, she married Prince Ernst-August of Hanover and gave birth to a fourth child, Alexandra of Hanover. However, their union experienced turbulence and the couple eventually separated.

Today, Princess Caroline is not only a happy mother and grandmother, but also an essential figure in Monegasque cultural life.
