A committed album
In an interview with Billboard, the Caribbean artist returned to this success:
It’s a very special album, and part of its goal was to bring generations together in a different way: allowing grandchildren to share music with their parents and grandparents, and celebrating their culture in a unique way. (…) My goal was the one I mentioned: to offer an album with the essence of Puerto Rico that would unite generations, awaken love for the country and culture, and that people could appreciate.

Indeed, in addition to calling on the cherished memories of Puerto Ricans and bringing out the Caribbean essence of the island, if only with the cover of its very telling album, Bad Bunny wanted to send a message. Namely the need to keep the essence of Puerto Rico. Which is felt in particular thanks to the traditional sounds that we find in several titles of “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS”. Sounds which also recall the Caribbean riches of the island of the Greater Antilles.
Through this album, the artist denounces the modern colonialism of the United States on this free associated territory. A commitment which involves first of all historical summaries recorded on the album available on YouTube, but also with pieces like “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii” where the artist fears that Puerto Rico will take the path to Hawaii. Or with “La Mudanza” where he sings: “ Here they killed people who waved the flag (…) no one will make me leave here, from here I will not move, tell them that this is my house, the one where my grandfather was born ».
I am Puerto Rican, I am Caribbean and my music, my culture, my history and that of my land flow in my blood,” he told the New York Times.
Committed, moving or catchy music, salsa, reggaeton and plena (Puerto Rican musical genre), Bad Bunny did not expect such success.
However, the one who will be in residence on his island from July offers a show that is already sold out with 400,000 tickets sold in just a few hours.
