In 2023, during an interview given to our colleagues from Telerama (this can be found in their edition of August 8 of that year), Nicolas Demorand made heartbreaking confidences about his brother Sébastien, who died four years ago to the day this Tuesday. “One of my biggest regrets is not having followed him when he told me: ‘Come on, let’s go to journalism school together. I wanted to let him breathe; he did it alone, was an excellent student, then a presenter and reporter at Europe 1.“, explained the co-presenter of the France Inter morning show with Léa Salamé.
And to add: “He was the one who took me in hand and taught me the basics when I joined France Culture. He remained a keen ear, until the end, to tell me what was going or not.”

Still in this interview with TeleramaNicolas Demorand said more about his brother’s incredible professionalism: “He was merciless, for a transition or a turn of phrase!.” A requirement which he nevertheless made good use of: “He really helped meand I knew after his death that he was proud of me.”
Note that we also remember this evasive but very beautiful dedication from Nicolas Demorand to his brother, live from France Inter, one morning in January 2022. “Although the frosts were less severe this morning, during the day the temperatures remained a little fair for the season. Remembering the Auvergne saying: ‘Snow in San Sebastian, weeds don’t come back“declared Marie-Pierre Planchon, during the weather forecast. To which the anchorman replied: “And I kiss one from Sébastien, my eternal brother.” A short, but intense sequence…
