She would have treated herself to a secret getaway, shortly after the Christmas festivities. And this, in the French Alps. Kate would have indeed celebrated the New Year in Courchevel, revealed the Daily MailSaturday January 18. The Princess of Wales would have spent a few days on the slopes, in the company of her husband William and their children George (11 years old), Charlotte (9 years old) and Louis (6 years old). But also his brother and sister James and Pippa Middleton. The Wales were notably seen enjoying hot drinks during the morning, in a restaurant with a view of the snow-capped peaks.
They would have sat down in the warm atmosphere of the Cave des Creux, an old sheepfold transformed into a chic brasserie, which sits at an altitude of 2,112 meters. This establishment, which offers roasted veal chops on the menu, decorated with foie gras and winter truffle, “XL” tuna tartare or even fondue, would also have welcomed the Wales for an additional meal. A place that the clan would have accessed by skiing, the latter being located on a red slope. Which would mean, according to the newspaper, that the couple's children are already masters in the art of going down the slopes.
The time for appeasement
Appearances during which Kate, who has just announced that she is in remission from her cancer, seemed “relaxed”, and seemed to be having “a good time”, a restaurant employee told the British daily. “They looked like a normal English family, and a lot of people didn't recognize them,” the witness explained. “It wasn't the first time we'd seen them. They've been coming here for years. I think they like the area. We often see Kate's sister, Pippa.”
If we believe the Daily Mail, their brother James Middleton was also there. “James was there with his wife and then Kate arrived with Charlotte and Louis,” said the anonymous source. “It looked a bit like a Middleton family party. Everyone seemed really happy.” The Wales and the Middletons would, moreover, have managed to remain as discreet as possible. “They laughed a lot and the children were very polite,” said the anonymous source. The only clue to their fame: the bodyguards who arrived alongside the Princess of Wales.
-An “adventure in the mountains”
Since then, James Middleton has published some photos of this stay in the mountains on his Instagram account. We see his son Inigo, aged 1, immortalized on the slopes. But also images of their family hike. In one of them, his wife Alizée feeds the little boy, installed in his cozy room. “I used to have the January blues a lot…and to a certain extent, I still do,” the author captioned the post.
Before continuing: “We started the new year with an adventure in the mountains. We were lucky to be overwhelmed by the blue sky and fresh air.” In December 2024, James Middleton was further remembered in the Sunday Times of his past stays, in his childhood, on the Domaine des Masses, or even in Avoriaz. After their recent vacation in Courchevel, Kate, for her part, is said to have returned to the United Kingdom just in time to celebrate her 43e birthday, Thursday January 9.
