Yoann Riou had an incredible adventure in Dancing with the Stars. The sports journalist still remembers the day when the TF1 teams called him to take part in the castings… and he couldn’t believe it!
Six years later, Yoann Riou still hasn’t recovered from his participation in the show Dancing with the stars on TF1. At the time, he participated in the program with Emmanuel Berne and the duo was eliminated at the end of the fifth bonus. It was ultimately Sami El Gueddari, the disabled swimming champion who won the competition alongside Fauve Hautot. Despite this elimination, Yoan Riou does not regret anything about his participation in the dance competition, which allowed him to be revealed to a larger audience. “Dancing with the stars allowed me to let my guard down, to drop the mask, to show that I am also a melancholic, nostalgic person”the sports journalist revealed to us, a few days after his elimination. In the process, he lost many kilos, due to intensive dance rehearsals.

When he was contacted by the teams of Dancing with the stars in February 2019, Yoann Riou didn’t believe it. “Me, frankly, I get angry. I say: ‘Madame, stop your nonsense. It’s not funny’. Because I think it’s bullshit. Moi, Dancing with the stars ? Look at me!”, recalls the journalist in Inès Vandamme’s podcast: “I don’t believe it and I say: prove to me that it’s true”. It is ultimately thanks to the help of a mutual acquaintance that Yoann Riou lets his guard down. He therefore passed the trials, before finally being selected.
From sport to humor on RTL
The year 2019 was a real turning point for Yoann Riou, who was at the same time spotted by Laurent Ruquier. Called when recording Big Headsbecause he was the answer to a question, his clumsiness and his good humor pleased the former host of France 2. Just a few days after his intervention, the team of Big Heads contacted him again, this time, to offer him two filming dates as a member. “The first show, I don’t even have any memories. I know it’s crazy, I was sweating. What a different world. It’s madness, because it’s going too fast.”remembers Yoan Riou. The adventure on RTL then begins.
