Astrid Veillontalented French actress, and Alain Delonliving legend of cinema, are two emblematic personalities of the world of entertainment. But their relationship, far from being smooth and harmonious, was marked by tensions and misunderstandings which have often hit the headlines.
These two figures in the film industry have indeed maintained professional ties, of course, but also personal exchanges that are sometimes conflicting, creating a climate of frictions both on and off screen.
In a rare interview, the 53-year-old actress returns today to their
Two key figures of French cinema
Alain Delon died on August 15, after a fight against illness. Since his death, celebrities have taken turns to pay tribute to him or talk about him. And today it’s Astrid Veillon’s turn to remember her memories with the famous actortheir relationships have not always been simple.
The 53-year-old actress made her debut in the world of cinema in the late 1990s, but it was on television that her career really exploded. On the other hand, Alain Delonsince his first successes in the 1960s, has established himself as one of the most iconic actors in French and international cinema, notably thanks to his roles in cult films like The Samurai or The swimming pool.
At the end of the 1990s, Astrid Veillon noticed that she seemed to be “blacklisted” from projects and less in demand on screen. “After having squeezed me like an orange in numerous fictions, the industry no longer found me fashionable. I went to a center for Tibetan refugees. A revelation. I discovered Buddhism and helping others. I liked it so much that I have made more than ten humanitarian trips since then. All this then allowed me to make bold choices. Without asking any more questions“, she explains in the columns of the magazine Point of view published this Wednesday January 15, 2025.
An unforgettable encounter
In 2002, Astrid Veillon met Alain Delon with whom she starred in the series Fabio Montale. A meeting that will change her life forever, as she explains today. “He has had a profound impact on my life. Firstly, because he is unique. And then, because he kept his word to me. I met him at a lunch where he told me says: ‘I have the impression of seeing myself as a woman’.”
And while the pretty brunette was going through a bad time at the timehe does not fail to help him move forward. They went on stage in 2004, in the play The roller coasters by Eric Assous.
“Alain was not an easy person, he was a strong personality. Just like me! We clashed a lot, but together we succeeded. He kept telling me, ‘One day you’ll show them who you really are.’ I am so grateful to him. Being by his side every evening will remain the most extraordinary experience of my life. Thanks to him, I’m no longer afraid of many people.” remembers the actress.
