Michael Landon, actor and producer of Little House on the Prairie, seems to have left good memories with most of his partners. This is the case of Melora Hardin, who played the role of Belinda.

Before playing in The OfficeMelora Hardin starred in Little House on the Prairieof which Melissa Gilbert has not only kept good memories. She played the role of Belinda, Albert Ingalls’ classmate. The actress recently spoke about her time in the series. She was only nine years old at the time of her audition. Melora Hardin credits Michael Landon – who not only starred in the series but also served as executive producer, writer and director – with fostering a “feeling of community” on the film set. “He was so warm”she remembers in the show Still Here Hollywood about the actor, who died in 1991 at the age of 54. “He was so nice. He made all the kids and all the adults, everyone, feel like he really chose them. And he let you do whatever you wanted.”explains Melora Hardin.

“When he gave you instructions, you never felt lectured. He was just lovely.”still tells the actress, who believes that Michael Landon knew “how to talk to children”. Overall, the actors of Little House on the Prairiein which Shannen Doherty took her first steps, said they felt “very protected” on set as children. This caring filming atmosphere undoubtedly explains the impressive on-screen performances of these young actors, particularly credible in their respective roles.

After playing Belinda, Melora Hardin returned later in the series to play another character: Michele Pierson. An important role since the young actress played the role of Albert Ingalls’ crush. “I played his crush and, actually, Matthew [Laborteaux] and I had our first on-screen kiss together”recalls the actress, who has since kept very good contact with her former partner. “He is still a very good friend and the godfather of my second daughter”she confides.
