And for the opening of this new series of shows, it is in a veterinary office that the young man in the impeccable suit and tie and green microphone in hand sets up his cameras. And not just any: MontVet in Montmoreau where he followed Jean-Jacques Leroy for a week last spring.
“I received a call from a casting company at the beginning of last year,” says the animal health professional. “They asked me if I was willing to do some testing. I was quite surprised, because Canal+ is not just anything. Loris Giuliano, I didn’t really know, but I quickly caught up,” he laughs.
During this call, Jean-Jacques Leroy was amazed: “They gave me my entire CV. They knew I took care of small to large animals, new pets too, that I had been to Africa. I asked them how they knew all this, they replied: “it’s our job”. They were looking for a professional, male, middle-aged, a male dinosaur in short. And to make sure I knew how to speak in front of a microphone, they asked me to participate in several video interviews. »
The first in the series
This is how he passed the tests, like several other veterinarians across France, and was finally selected by Loris Giuliano himself. Filming took place in the spring, “during a week”. All the patients who were filmed had to sign image rights and agree to appear in the show.

“He was with me all the time. We have dealt with cases ranging from bees to the castration of a 900 kg draft horse,” says the veterinarian who admits to having been “a little stressed. I had found out about him, he is someone who pushes his interlocutors to their limits, and he did not fail to do so, trying to destabilize me with “I think you are wrong”, during interventions, and even making sure that I spoke better English than a Scottish patient who was in front of us. »
As for the result, Jean-Jacques Leroy will discover it like everyone else Thursday evening, at 11 p.m. on Canal+. “But I’m not worried, they could have set it up in any direction, there was no mess, no hiccup, I have no apprehensions. »
He is also very honored to be the first to open the series “while we were the last filming. I know in particular that in one of the episodes he accompanies a great French chef, I really dream of having been taken into this adventure. »
