While the celebrities of “The Island” struggle to survive, Loury Lag, the host, intervened to guide them. Help which disappointed many Internet users, criticizing an attack on the spirit of the game
The show is making a comeback after seven years of absence. The new season of The Island began on January 7 on M6, to the delight of viewers. Like previous seasons, ten celebrities were dumped on a desert island. For this new edition, several celebrities known to the general public including Delphine Wespiser, Julien Cohen and Sidney Govou, were dropped off on the island of Ko Tarutao in Thailand, with the mission of surviving for ten days in extreme conditions, under the watchful eye of the survival expert, Loury Lag.
From the first hours, the adventure was marked by incidents . Carine Galli, sports journalist, had to give up after fracturing her ankle, while Patrick Puydebat was forced to leave the show after being bitten by a stingray. In the second episode of January 14, it was the actor and model Terence Telle who injured himself by cutting open his toe.
Loury Lag intervenes to reframe the adventurers
A new event which adds to the long list of complications of the adventure. Indeed, from the beginning, adventurers struggle to find drinking water, light a fire and build a solid shelter. Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut, former Miss France, even came close to feeling unwell due to the trying conditions on the island. Faced with these growing difficulties, Loury Lag, new host of the showdecided to intervene to guide the participants. Observing their lack of progress, he provided them with essential advice, particularly onthe importance of finding a reliable water source and establish a secure camp. Its goal was to refocus celebrity efforts on vital priorities.
However, this intervention was not well received by part of the public. On Internet users did not hide their disappointment in the face of this intervention surprise, considering that Loury Lag’s assistance went against the concept of the show, which is based on the autonomy of the participants: “If Loury Lag must intervene at every difficulty, where is the spirit of ‘The Island’? Disappointing”, “In the end, the show turns into Rendezvous in an Unknown Land since they are accompanied. It no longer has any survival purpose”, “But that’s not normally adventure.
