Princess Kate, who announced in early September 2024 that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, declared on Tuesday January 14, 2025 that she was “relieved to be now in remission” from her cancer.

“As anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer knows, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. However, I am looking forward to the year to come,” Crown Prince William’s wife wrote on social media.

She had gone earlier in the day to the Royal Marsden Hospital (London) where she had been treated, to thank the staff and provide support to the patients.

“I wanted to come and show my support […] to those who are undergoing treatment and going through such a difficult time,” said the Princess of Wales, who has just celebrated her 43rd birthday. She also praised the “extraordinary work” carried out in this hospital.

“Entering here through the main entrance, after having made so many discreet and private visits, it's quite nice, actually,” confided the princess outside the hospital, which is located in the chic district of Chelsea, in the west of the British capital.

“World-leading care”

Kate announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer – without revealing its nature – and had started chemotherapy. In September 2024, in a video filmed with William and their three children, she declared “with relief” that she had completed her treatment.

Kate, who is the wife of William, the heir to the throne, “wanted to make the visit to show her gratitude to this incredible team” and “highlight the world-leading care that Marsden provides”, said Kensington Palace in a statement.

A moving visit

The princess spent about an hour in the hospital. In particular, she spoke with a patient who had just received her first treatment.

When she left, she hugged a woman visiting the hospital. “I'm sorry. I wish I could help more,” said the princess, visibly moved. “There is light at the end of the tunnel […] I wish you good luck, you are in good hands,” she added.

On Tuesday January 14, 2025, Kate became the godmother of the Royal Marsden Hospital, of which William was already the godfather. King Charles III, aged 76, also announced last year that he was suffering from cancer, for which he continues to be treated.
