Melania Trump confirms she will live in Washington during her husband's second term

Melania Trump assured this Monday, January 13 that she would mainly live at the White House during the second term of her husband Donald, who will once again become President of the United States on January 20.

“I will be in the White House,” declared Melania Trump in a program broadcast Monday on Fox News, the favorite channel of conservatives in the United States. “And when I need to be in New York, I'll be in New York. Same thing for Palm Beach,” she added, referring to the couple's homes in Manhattan's Trump Tower and Mar -a-Lago in Florida.

“I don’t always agree with what my husband says or does”

During Donald Trump's first term (2017-2021), the First Lady did not immediately return to Washington and remained in New York while their son Baron, then aged 11, finished his school year.

Melania Trump stayed out of public life for most of her husband's third presidential campaign last year, and his criminal trial in New York last spring.

“People may only see me as the president's wife, but I'm my own person, I'm independent,” Melania Trump said during the show.

“I don't always agree with what my husband says or does (…) I give him advice, sometimes he listens to me, sometimes not, and that's OK.”

After the publication of her memoirs in October, a 182-page work in which she reveals little but defends the right to abortion, Melania Trump intends to soon release a film chronicling her day-to-day life and her return to the White House, which she claims to have had the idea.

As First Lady, she plans to become more involved in the “Be Best” campaign for the well-being of children, in which she participated sporadically during her first four years in this role.
