A resounding return. On Thursday, December 2, The Bigdil made his return to RMC Storytwenty years after the show ended on TF1. The least we can say is that the public was there. For the premiere of the show on RMC Story, 1.8 million viewers watched the game hosted by Vincent Lagaf'for a market share of 9.1%.
A little over a week later, on Friday January 10, The Bigdil brought together 1.78 million people, or 10.1% of PDA. Thanks to this score, RMC Story climbed to third place on the audience podium, notably beating TF1 and M6. Questioned by our colleagues from Figaro on January 7, Vincent Lagaf' did not hide his joy at seeing the cult game being so well received after 20 years of absence. “People wanted something simple, honest, unpretentious, just someone who comes along, who messes around, who doesn't take themselves seriously.“, he confided.
The Bigdil: Vincent Lagaf' recounts the serious accident narrowly avoided
This Sunday, January 12, Vincent Lagaf' was invited to the set of Children of TV (France 2). Facing Laurence Boccolini, the host returned to the time when Bigdil was broadcast on TF1, and revealed that a serious accident had been narrowly avoided. During one game, things almost went very wrong. “We more than came close to corrections. We had a game where we put two people under very large foam pineapples, which, at the time, were not fireproof. There was a pulley system that made one person pedal very fast to raise the pineapple, and the first person to raise the pineapple had to find out who was under the pineapple. And the pineapple, once climbed to the top, set off a little fireworks“, he began.
Unfortunately, the system in place for this game didn't work as expected at all. “The firework went off, it set the pineapple on fire, which burned the rope holding it to the pulley, so the pineapple fell on the person below, on fire. So there was a person under the burning pineapple. The pineapple set the second pineapple on fire, along with the person underneath, until I said 'Evacuate'“, he said. Fortunately, no injuries were ultimately reported following this incident.
The production team, however, decided to immediately destroy the footage and never broadcast this issue of the show.
