The news was reported by - and the newspaper Le Devoir, which cited relatives of his family.
Born in Moscow, Kim Yaroshevskaya arrived in Montreal at the age of 10. An artist at heart from a young age, she took music, drawing and dance lessons before discovering a love for theater.
The actress maintained this passion for the boards throughout her long and prolific career. In the winter of 2012, she took the stage of the Théâtre du Rideau vert where she starred in the play “Vigile (ou le watcheur)”, with Eric Bernier.
In the theater, she has also performed plays by Eugène Ionesco, Alfred Jarry and Anton Chekhov.
More recently, in 2017, she published the illustrated book “My trip to America” by Éditions du Boréal, which recounts her journey.
But for a whole generation of children who are now adults, the name of Kim Yaroshevskaya will always be associated with that of the Fanfreluche doll, who for years told “a beautiful tale in her own way” on -. Before having his own series, broadcast from 1968 to 1971, the character had already appeared in the shows “Fafouin”, then “La Boîte à surprise”. She wrote the scripts for Fanfreluche herself.
A few years later, the actress comforted a new generation of little ones thanks to the cult show “Passe-Partout”, in which she played the role of Grandmother for 10 years, that Passe-Montagne, Passe-Carreau and Passe-Partout will regularly visit.
She has played in numerous soap operas including Peau de Banana and Ent’ Cadieux.
In 1999, she published “Little Kim,” a book of children’s stories inspired by her own childhood.
“I love stories and I have a very personal way of telling them,” the actress declared to Magazine de l’Île-des-Soeurs in January 2008.
Tales and fables will be omnipresent throughout her career, even when she has left behind the characters of Fanfreluche and Grand-mère. Kim Yarochevskaya likes to go on stage and tell in her soft voice to a captivated audience these tales and legends, coming from her head or from elsewhere.
The Union of Artists paid tribute to him on its Facebook page.
“Kim Yaroshevskaya, who brightened the lives of several generations of young and old children, has left us. Many will have been marked by her interpretation of Fanfreluche or grandmother in Passe-Partout. We will not forget her roles on TV, cinema and theater, where she played great playwrights such as Dostoyevsky, Chekhov and Tennessee Williams. Our sincere condolences to his loved ones, his family and all those touched by his characters,” we wrote.
