The megalopolis of Los Angeles is currently in the grip of devastating fires which continue to ravage vast areas of land. The human toll is heavy, with at least 10 deaths reported, and more than 13,000 hectares destroyed by the flamesreports BFM TV.
The fires, fueled by extreme weather conditions and strong winds, are spreading quickly and thousands of residents have had to be evacuated for their safety.
Meghan Markle and Harry to the rescue
Faced with the disaster, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made the decision to support the Southern California community by offering assistance to those affected.
According to magazine information People, the couple would have in fact opened their Montecito house to friends forced to evacuate.
In addition to helping their loved ones, they would also work with their Archewell Foundation to determine the most effective ways to support the community during this crisis. The foundation would also seek volunteer opportunities to assist in the mental health recovery of people in need of immediate help and facilitate long-term recovery efforts.
In addition, all donations made through the foundation would have been devoted to relief efforts, specify our English-speaking colleagues.
The Sussex clan works closely with Chief José Andrés and his organization World Central Kitchen (a long-time partner of the Archewell Foundation, editor’s note) to provide additional relief.
-Always according to People, Harry and Meghan also reportedly donated essential supplies, as well as clothing and other children’s items.
This Thursday, January 9, 2025, the parents of Archie and Lilibet also published a statement entitled Fires in Southern California on the sussex.com website. In it, they offer resources and ideas for those who want to help those affected.
This release mentions World Central Kitchen, CAL FIRE, the LA Fire Department Foundation, the Animal Wellness Foundation, Compton Cowboys, Airbnb and 211LA, Baby2baby and All Power Books.
