Actress Jamie Lee Curtis, one of several Hollywood celebrities who own property in California neighborhoods devastated by fires this week, said Thursday that her family would donate $1 million to help victims.

Upset by the scenes of apocalypse currently taking place in Los Angeles, actress Jamie Lee Curtis declared that she and her husband, actor and director Christopher Guest, as well as their children, would pay a million dollars in in favor of relief efforts and in support of victims.

“As the fire continues to wreak havoc and the firefighters of California, Los Angeles and all the (organizations) that fight fires and save lives continue to work hard, may neighbors and friends stand together to saving each other, my husband, I and my children committed a million dollars from our family foundation to start a support fund for our great city and our great state, and for the people who live there and who like it”, she posts on Instagram.

“Many friends lost their homes”

During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday evening, the actress was very emotional while describing the devastation of the Pacific Palisades neighborhood where the first source of the fires hitting the Los Angeles area broke out. is declared on Tuesday and is, this Friday, still not under control. “Where I live is on fire right now, literally the whole town of Pacific Palisades is on fire,” she said. “It’s literally where I live – the market where I shop, the schools where my children go. This Friday the main fires that broke out around Los Angeles remain out of control. Thursday afternoon, another outbreak broke out near Calabasas and the wealthy Hidden Hills neighborhood, where star Kim Kardashian lives.

The Californian megacity now records at least ten deaths. Around 180,000 people remain under evacuation orders and thousands of buildings have been reduced to ashes.
