Mel Gibson has revealed that the house he had lived in for more than a decade went up in smoke in the terrible fires currently ravaging Los Angeles but that his chickens survived.
The blow is violent, but he tries to remain optimistic. Like many other stars, Mel Gibson revealed that he lost his Malibu home in the Los Angeles fires this week. In a telephone interview with NewsNation this Thursday, the “Mad Max” star confided his feeling of devastation at having lost the home in which he lived for nearly fifteen years. “Obviously it’s pretty devastating. It’s moving,” the actor told host Elizabeth Vargas.
But choosing not to lament, the “Braveheart” star added: “I had a lot of personal stuff there that I can’t get back… All kinds of stuff, from photos to files, to going through personal things that I had over the years, and clothes, pretty cool stuff, but you know all of that can be replaced,” Mel Gibson said. “It’s just things. And the good news is that my family members and those I love are all fine,” he added.
When asked where he was during the fire that ravaged his home, the actor said he was in Austin, Texas, recording an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “[Jétais] a little uncomfortable as we talked, because I knew my neighborhood was on fire, so I wondered if my home was still there. But when I got home, sure enough, she was gone. I thought, well, at least I don’t have any of those pesky plumbing problems anymore.”
-Mel Gibson said his wife, Rosalind Ross, and their son, Lars, were safe because they evacuated their home in time. Despite the damage, Mel Gibson said his chickens survived the fire. He said the house of his neighbor, actor Ed Harris, had also been set on fire.
The main fires ravaging the outskirts of the city were still not under control Thursday evening. At least ten people have lost their lives, according to the latest report. The number of homes damaged or destroyed by the fires amounts to several thousand, including many celebrity villas such as those of Paris Hilton or Laeticia Hallyday.
