This Wednesday January 8 on Youtube, Guillaume Pley broadcast a new episode of his Youtube show Legend. He received Guillaume Canet there, starring inTo lifean action thriller which will be released on Netflix this Friday, January 10, carried by the actor and of which he was also co-writer and co-producer. From the start of LegendGuillaume Canet learned that he was the first guest on the show to be broadcast – not the first filming but the first show released. Information which surprised the actor and which gave him something to make his son, Marcel, now 13 years old, proud – despite the fact that, by his own admission, the latter sometimes considers him a boomer. Guillaume Canet also said that his son had not always been kind to him about his career.
“He will be very happy“: proud to have been the first guest of LegendGuillaume Canet evokes his son Marcel, “very very fan” from the show
“Unbelievable, I’m very, very proud. I’m going to tell my son, he’s a very, very fan, he’ll be very happy. He looks and he listens, he’s like crazy“, enthuses Guillaume Canet when he learns that he was the first guest of Legend. “But even all the boys his age at school are like crazy, and he surprises me every daybecause, I say to myself, it makes me happy, because he learns things. It teaches him a lot. So he gives me some ideas on completely improbable things, I tell him ‘But where do you know about this and everything?’ He tells me ‘Yeah, that’s for sure Legend‘ and everything. And he falls asleep with that, he listens to podcasts as he falls asleep“, he says. Later in the show, Guillaume Pley asks his guest if his children watched what he and his wife Marion Cotillard do and if they appreciate it.
“You only make shitty films“: Guillaume Canet remembers this hurtful remark from his son Marcel when he was 6 years old
“SO there was total rejection at the start. I remember my son one day, we were on a scooter in Paris, and at one point we stopped in front of a Morris column where there was a photo of his mother in a film, and he said to me ‘Why is there the poster?’ I tell him “It’s a poster for the film to promote it, so that people want to go see the film, to tell them that the film is going to be released in the cinema,” explains Guillaume Canet.Oh yeah, so you’re liars?“, his son Marcel would have replied. “I tell him ‘But why liars?’. He tells me ‘Because you only make s*** films’. But he was like 6 years old. And I tell him ‘But why do you say that? You’ve never seen a movie. He tells me ‘No, but I’m sure they’re shitty films,'” says the actor, half-amused, half-hurt. After reminding his son that “we don’t talk like that“, Guillaume Canet says he understood his son’s reaction at the time: “There was total rejection. Which is normal, because they don’t want to see their parents living other characters, being in another story and not actually being their parents. And then it evolved a little over time – at least as far as Marcel is concerned, who is older now. And who, moreover, is starting to play in certain films; he has already acted two-three times and he really likes it, and now he understands the process of acting“.
