A grandmother “like a second mother
The bond that united Roman de Kermadec to Jane Birkin was of particular intensity, forged in particular after the tragic disappearance of Kate Barry in 2013. “We were more than close. We saw each other very often. She was like a second mother to me when mine left. She never let me go, even in difficult times”he confides with emotion. A relationship all the more precious as the young man had lost his father very early, at the age of four.

Roman de Kermadec lifts the veil on her grandmother’s last months, revealing a stoic Jane Birkin in the face of illness: “She had been ill for a very long time, she hid it well, never complained. asked to stop the stage but she wanted to continue, we let her do it… even if she had to cancel her last concerts, she really went all the way.” A strength of character that never left her, even during their last shared moments: “The day she left, we had to have lunch together.”
