During an interview given to “Télé Loisirs”, comedian Malik Bentalha spoke openly about the most painful period of his life.
Being an artist is not always easy, becoming one, even less so. This is what the comedian and actor, Malik Bentalha, reminded us in an exclusive interview. While he made his debut on the stage of Jamel Comedy Club after being spotted by Jamel Debbouze in 2010, then putting on his first show at Point Virgule with production by Alex Lutz in 2014, Malik Bentalha achieved a meteoric rise in just a few years and established himself as a key artist on the French comedy scene. A journey that was not without pitfalls.

During an interview given to the media Leisure TV, A few days ago, Malik Bentalha looked back on one of the worst periods of his life, especially during his debut. In fact, he confided without filter that he had been defrauded, then ruined, before ending up homeless:
“I was defrauded by a producer with a banking ban. The taxes demanded astronomical sums from me… I was on the street. I thought I was going to stay there, at every level.”
A new man
Earlier, in an interview for The Parisianthe comedian also confided that he had fallen into depression a few years ago:
“Today, with social networks, the advent of Instagram, we are forbidden from doing badly. I locked myself away at every level, I stayed at home looking at the cell phone, eating, I let myself sink, I gained weight. And then there was this film that I really wanted to shoot”. Before adding: “At costume fittings, I started lying about my size. I was sabotaging myself”.

A trigger that pushed him to take control of himself and lose weight:
“I'm a new man, I decided to take matters into my own hands. You say to yourself “damn it melted” but, there is nothing without nothing! When people see me at 110 kilos, they say to me 'man how are you going to do it?' I know in my head, it's determination, otherwise I wouldn't be here today, and I wouldn't do what I was able to do. I’m relentless in one way or the other.”
Since January 1, 2025, the comedian began touring his new show, A New World, throughout France. Hat !
