David Beckham disappointed again: here’s why Charles III didn’t grant him a knighthood

Every year, new names join the prestigious Order of the British Empire, and some are even knighted. And, while he has dreamed of it for a long time, David Beckham would have been snubbed by King Charles, if we trust the words of the daily The Mirror.

This is a new oversight that could well end up tiring David Beckham. The reason? The former footballer was not knighted by Charles III, explains the daily The Mirror.

You should know that each year, several personalities are named to the Order of the British Empire, and some are knighted. And obviously, David Beckham has dreamed of this title for years. Unfortunately, this year will not have smiled on him (again).

But why did the knighthood elude him again? According to the newspaper The MirrorCharles III would have refused “partly because of the tax scandal surrounding him and his wife“.

The daily refers in particular to the criticisms which followed the publication of the book The House of Beckhamwhere we learned how the couple managed to avoid taxes.

To make matters worse, emails dating from 2013, showing exchanges between David and his manager, resurfaced. In them, he reportedly expressed his annoyance at seeing soprano Katherine Jenkins rewarded, saying: “Did everyone forget she did coke? What a parody!

And while the coach of the England team, Gareth Southgate, received the title of “Sir”, David Beckham will have to wait again for that of knighthood. Until next year?
