Rihanna waits here at the 2023 met gala, celebrated one year of sobriety
PEOPLE – While many began a “dry January” this Wednesday, January 1, Rihanna celebrated an entire year without drinking. In a video posted on Instagram on January 1, the 36-year-old singer and entrepreneur, head of the Fenty house, confided that she had been sober for a year.
Rihanna celebrated the new year surrounded by her partner A$AP Rocky, the father of her children RZA and Riot, and friends. Like many celebrities and anonymous people, the singer followed the countdown live by watching on her phone the descent of the famous New Year’s “ball” in Time Square in New York.
In a video posted on her Instagram account on January 1, the singer and her friends list the numbers from 0 to 1, until the official transition to 2025. It is at this moment that Rihanna reveals in front of the lens of her smartphone: “And guys, I haven’t had a drink all year. I haven’t drunk all year.”

Rihanna had never spoken about her sobriety before. But before her, many personalities have confided that they stopped drinking alcohol for various reasons. This is for example the case of the actor Tom Holland, the actor Bradley Cooper, the rapper Eminem, or even the actress Lucy Hale, or the Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.
