It’s a long-standing wish that Rachel Troallic has just made come true by settling in Châteauroux at the age of 23. “From the age of 13, I planned to move with my mother”confides the one who is originally from Mantes-la-Jolie and who has only ever known the region. Life too expensive, hectic pace, travel time: her frustration has only increased from year to year.

“A soothing place, much calmer and greener than Paris”

“A year ago, I first considered going to Canada because they were looking for French people to work theretells this adventurer at heart. This did not happen, and Pôle emploi referred me to the Emile program, which directed me to Indre, where I decided to come and settle, without my mother in the end. » But not quite alone, Rachel having brought with her her two cats, Joke and Nessie, and her dog, Savannah.

Laundry, temporary work, trade…

Accompanied by the Alisé-Berry Employer Group for Integration and Qualification (GEIQ), the young woman arrives on April 18, 2024 in Châteauroux. She was temporarily housed by Scalis in a house on Place Lafayette, before obtaining a lease in an apartment in the old town on May 31.

Holder of a CAP in hospitality, catering, marketing and coffee, she started with a fixed-term contract in a laundry, which was not renewed after stopping work following a fall while cycling. Then she continued with temporary work during the summer and this fall, in a difficult economic situation. Now, those who have accumulated experience in commerce in the past (Auchan, Leclerc, Jennyfer, Aldi, Carrefour, Lidl, etc.) “looking for a job at all costs” in this sector or another in search of little hands. “I continue to call temp agencies almost every day, they don’t have anything for me at the moment, but I’m hanging on! »

For nothing in the world I would not return to the Paris region!

Rachel Troallic beneficiary of the Emile program in Châteauroux.

In all cases, she found, in Châteauroux, “a soothing place, much calmer and greener than Paris”where she can move easily “on foot or with the free buses”. She also indulges in her favorite sport, rollerblading, while walking Savannah. Logically therefore, she now aspires to live there: “For nothing in the world, I would not return to the Paris region! »

Our “Leaving Paris” series

Set up by the Interministerial Delegation for Accommodation and Access to Housing (DIHAL) with several institutional partners, the Emile program (for “Committed to mobility and integration through housing and employment”) allows for residents of the Paris or region to be supported in finding employment and housing in nine departments of Metropolitan . To do this, they must meet several criteria: be in a regular situation, have housing or professional integration difficulties and obviously be willing to move.

In Indre, since 2022, it is the Alisé-Berry Employer Group for Integration and Qualification (GEIQ) which has coordinated this program. As part of a certified national network, its objective is to recruit in professions facing labor shortages.

The NR went to meet five participants in this program who chose to leave Paris and its region to settle in Indre.
