The principal dancer of the Paris Opera ballet Roxane Stojanov has been named star of this prestigious company, the institution announced. She learned the news after the performance of the ballet “Paquita”, in which she played the title role.
“On the proposal of José Martinez, director of dance, Alexander Neef, general director of the Opéra national de Paris, named Roxane Stojanov star dancer of the Opéra national de Paris on the stage of the Opéra Bastille,” a the opera said in a press release on Saturday.
Born in 1995, of Franco-Macedonian origin, Roxane Stojanov entered the Paris Opera dance school in 2007 before being hired in the corps de ballet in 2013.
She notably distinguished herself in the ballets “After the Rain” by Christopher Wheeldon, “La Dame aux Camélias” by John Neumeier and even Ravel’s “Boléro” directed by the choreographer Mats Ek.
