The bonds of friendship forged on the set of “Four Girls and Jeans” have never weakened. America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn, partners of Blake Lively in the cult 2005 film, have expressed their unwavering support for the latter, who recently filed a complaint against Justin Baldoni. The latter, lead actor and director of the film “Jamais Plus” (“It Ends With Us”), is accused of sexual harassment and of having orchestrated a smear campaign against Blake Lively.
In a joint statement shared on Instagram, the three actresses denounced the attacks suffered by their friend. “As friends and sisters of Blake for over twenty years, we stand with her as she fights against the campaign to destroy her reputation. Throughout the filming of “Jamais Plus,” we watched her find the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and her colleagues on set. We are appalled by what is happening,” they wrote.
Their support doesn't stop there. They highlight the hypocrisy of attempts to silence Blake Lively: “What is most shocking is the brazen exploitation of the stories of survivors of domestic violence to silence a woman who was asking for safety. The hypocrisy is astounding.” According to them, even a woman as strong and recognized as Blake Lively is not spared from reprisals when she dares to demand a respectful work environment.
Blake Lively, who filed her complaint on December 21, also accuses James Heathy, lead producer of the film, of having participated in this smear campaign. For his part, Justin Baldoni strongly denies the accusations, calling them “false and intentionally harmful.” The affair, which combines serious accusations and female solidarity, promises to cause a lot more ink to be spilled.
