VIDEO – The journalist who covered the evening segment “Week-end direct” is in turn leaving the news channel. This Sunday, with a slightly trembling voice, she sent a message to her teams and to the viewers.

She will not comment on François Bayrou's government after having waited for it all weekend. Céline Pitelet, presenter of “Week-end direct”, the 10 p.m. to midnight slot on the weekend, said goodbye to BFMTV.

“Tonight was my last show”she said this Sunday, December 22. “It’s a page of 15 years that is turning”. Indeed, Céline Pitelet arrived on the news channel in 2008, after having worked on RTL and RMC. She started with “Non-Stop” during the summer of 2009, then landed the role of joker on the channel in 2010.

Between 2011 and 2013, she presented “Week-end Première” with Fabien Crombé, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Between 2013 and 2015, her alarm rang even earlier as she inaugurated the “Première édition” pre-morning, this time in a duet with Jean-Rémi Baudot. With this new time slot which begins at 4:30 a.m., BFMTV hopes to compete with the radio stations.

Replaced by Karine de Ménonville

It was from 2015 that Céline Pitelet moved into the weekend newspapers. “Non-Stop Weekend”, “8 p.m. Weekend” and finally from the start of the 2018 school year “Week-end Direct”. In 2022, she launched “À l'proof des facts” with Jean-Baptiste Boursier, a fact-checking show to cover the presidential campaign and verify the veracity of candidates' statements. In January 2024, she returns to the weekend news slots from 10 p.m. to midnight.

“I would like to thank you, viewers, for your loyalty, for your trust”made a point of declaring Céline Pitelet before announcing “leave the keys to Karine de Ménonville who will take over in January 2025”. “I wish her all the success she deserves and wish you all a very happy holiday season. See you soon”she concluded movedly without forgetting to mention her team who work in management. The traditional information banner displays the message: “Goodbye and thank you, Céline Petilet”.
