Artus has been making us laugh for 15 years. The comedian who had real success with his film A little something extra is on all fronts. Currently on tour for his show, the artist gave a long interview to our colleagues at Parisian. He talks about his feature film but also about his place in French cinema, the change in the way others see him and his relationship with celebrity. On the success ofA little something extrahe confided: “I monitored the entries. I even became addicted to the app which allows me to follow them live from day to day! But I was, however, disconnected from my growing notoriety in France”.
Artus faced with the change in the outlook of others?
“In August, when I returned to Paris to attend the Olympic Games, I noticed that my status had changed. Before, I was a comedian who was easily asked for photos, with a pat on the back. There, the success at the cinema has created a distance. Now, I hear people whispering 'You see, it's Artus', but they come to see me less. I'm better known, but less in demand, and they come to me. see you!”, he continued. What if the cinema world shows him more consideration?
“If this is the case, I don't notice it because it's an environment that I rarely frequent.”he admitted to Parisian. And to specify: “One of the few who was nice to me very early on was Patrice Leconte. He saw the film before its release and sent me a nice message to congratulate me. It made me feel good that such a successful director believed in my work.“.
Did the comedian take the melon?
Artus admitted to having taken the melon in the face of success but only briefly. “I took it for three months, a few years ago, but my friends quickly calmed me down. They don't call me Artus but 'Vic', because my real first name is Victor. I think if I had really got the big head, it would have happened sooner”he analyzed. And to conclude: “I've been performing on stage for fifteen years, and my career didn't start suddenly. There was the only one on stage, my appearance on the TV show 'On n'demande que à en laugh', my role in the series 'The Bureau of Legends', the cinema…”.
