50 million dollars. This is the amount that influencer Haliey Welch allegedly earned by scamming her fans with the launch of her memecoins called $HAWK. As BFMTV explains, it is a form of cryptocurrency which refers to popular memes on social networks. Launched at the beginning of December, his project attracted many investors who are completely panicked today. Because the 22-year-old American has completely disappeared from the networks.
As the BBC recalls, the market capitalization of its memecoins reached nearly 500 million dollars (471 million euros) shortly after its launch. But the euphoria was short-lived as the value fell by 95% in a few hours. Enough to anger investors who now accuse Haliey Welch, better known as Hawk Tuah Girl, of having scammed them.

What happened? According to the cheated investors, the cryptocurrency launched by the young woman was only an operation called “rug pull”. Concretely, the person who issues the cryptocurrency invests in his own currency to increase its value before reselling everything massively. It then causes prices to fall and leaves investors with heavy losses. In her case, Haliey Welch reportedly raised $50 million.
“I'm a big fan of Hawk Tuah, but you took all my savings. I bought your $Hawk coin which you promoted with my children's university education fund,” laments a woman on the American assures that “Haliey’s team sold absolutely no tokens” and promised “more explanations to come” regarding this story.
The young woman became known last summer after a video went viral on TikTok. She decided to ride her popularity by quitting her job and hired an agent to manage her image. Result: in a few months, she reached more than 2.6 million subscribers on Instagram and 1.8 million on TikTok. She also launched a weekly podcast, a dating site for seven dollars per week, derivative products as well as this famous cryptocurrency.
