The end of the William show at noon is confirmed. February 28, 2025 will mark not only the definitive closure of the C8 channel, but also the end of William Leymergie’s flagship program. According to Le Parisien, in an article published Wednesday December 18, 2024, the daily show will not be transferred to CStar, the other channel of the Canal+ group. This is a hard blow for the 77-year-old host, who has hosted this midday program since 2017. Since its creation, William à midi stood out for its mix of current affairs, practical advice and thematic sections. Surrounded by expert columnists like Antoni Ruiz, Caroline Delage and Véronique Mounier, the show covered a variety of subjects: consumption, health, travel or culture. This format had succeeded in retaining an audience despite a high average age, 68 years old this year.
For William Leymergie, this show represented a real daily pleasure. In November 2021, he told Télé-Loisirs: “Each show is different. And then, doing nothing would bore me deeply!”. Despite a slight increase in audiences, with 200,000 viewers on average this season compared to 177,000 last year, the program will not be repeated. Indeed, Arcom’s decision to close C8 changed the situation. Canal+ had tried to appeal to the Council of State to try to save the channel, without success.
