Florent Pagny relieved for Paul Watson: “It’s great news”

Activist Paul Watson is free!

It was THE good news for animal rights defenders. This Monday, December 17, activist and sailor Paul Watson was releasedafter more than 5 months of detention in a prison in Greenland. As a reminder, the activist was locked up because the Japanese authorities accused him of having been responsible for the damage caused to a Japanese whaling ship in 2010. But after a long struggle with the local authorities, and the involvement of French leaders to arrive at the release of Paul Watson, the verdict finally falls: the founder of the NGO Sea Shepherd will not be extradited to Japanwhere he could have been sentenced, and will be able to return to French territory.

News welcomed by many activists, but also by personalities, many of whom are committed to the benefit of the activist. This is particularly the case of Florent Pagny, very involved in this fight.

Florent Pagny, delighted with this collective mobilization: “Great news

Questioned on his future big tour planned for 2026the musician couldn’t help butexpress joy at this liberationwhich he considered to be “a profound injustice”. If he welcomes the regular interventions of the Macron couple and Michel Barnier in this matter, he above all shows himself grateful for joint public actionand the many artists who are committed to the liberation of Paul Watson.

“The artists moved a little, quite a few people went to demonstrate and express their disagreement with this situation” – Florent Pagny

And the singer knows what he’s talking about: helped by several accomplices, like Francis Lalanne, Cali or even David Hallydayhe recorded a song called “The last word“, proof of their collective commitment.
