After the success of the hit “Alibi” this summer, alongside Sevdaliza and Pablo Vittar, Yseult was also praised for her performance during the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Unfortunately, these two successes were not enough to ensure a good reception for the singer’s latest project. His album “MENTAL”, performed in a mixture of English and French, and more experimental than his usual style, failed to find its audience, which deeply disappointed the artist.
Multiple rants about X
For several days, on social networks, Yseult has hidden neither her disappointment nor her anger at the situation. After regretting that her album was “dying”, she said: “I can’t believe that people are sleeping on a project like “MENTAL”, it’s very serious. “Tuning”, “Trance “, “Suic*de”, “GASOLINA”… bop after bop.”
Result: she asks: “Could you give me an example of a similar project in France? I’m serious because the way you snore on this project is hot. Yesterday, watching the live performances ( tv) that I did in France, I asked myself if France really deserves the power, the heart and the love that I give on stage, or is my project really broken, you make me doubt downright .”
Then, more virulently, she did not hesitate to assert: “MENTAL is one of the best projects released in France this year. Those who do not agree, choke up.”
An attitude that does not please Internet users
Yseult is confident in her music and her talent, and she is not afraid to say it. But her comments were not at all well received by certain Internet users, who judge her to be unnecessarily virulent, and incapable of accepting criticism. “I’ve been following you since the very beginning and there you lost me. There are certain sounds that I more or less liked, but overall I missed it. Now you can also admit that if the public doesn’t “did not respond, it’s because it’s not as good”, we can read in particular under his publications.
Other Internet users were much less polite, not hesitating to insult the singer and denounce her attitude.
Words that Yseult does not intend to let slide: “Let’s normalize the fact of aspiring to more for oneself without being judged as pretentious or crazy”, she proclaimed forcefully. “Like, I can’t express my opinion on my project in peace? It’s seriously embarrassing,” she denounced. “It’s common to categorize women as hysterical when they share their feelings. We have every right to share our beliefs, doubts, fears, and more with emotion and passion. Get used to that and don’t break my ovaries.”
