The 95th Miss France election will take place this Saturday, December 14. However, the semi-finalists of the competition are chosen several weeks before. Aufeminin takes you behind the scenes of their preliminary tests.
Saturday December 14, 2024, 30 regional misses will take the stage of the Futuroscope Arena to try to win the title of Miss France 2025. However, among all these young women, only 15 can really hope to win the crown. Indeed, the semi-finalists of the competition are not chosen by the public nor by the members of the jury, but by a preselection committee.
When you turn on your television on election night and see the portraits of the 30 candidates, the fate will therefore already be decided for 15 of them. A process that may seem cruel or unfair to some, but which actually has a reason for being. After following the candidates for a week in Ivory Coast, Aufeminin met certain members of this pre-selection committee and invites you to find out more about how the 15 semi-finalists of the Miss France election are chosen.

The selection of the 15 semi-finalists takes place during the preparatory trip
Each year, the regional misses, committee members, makeup artists, hairdressers, photographers, technical teams and journalists leave a few weeks before the election to make the preparatory trip for the misses. This year, the beauty queens flew to Ivory Coast alongside Cindy FabreEve Gilles Miss France 2024 but also Diane Leyre and Maëva Coucke.
If this stay under the sun has all the makings of an idyllic trip, it is in fact very intense for the candidates who are judged every day through different tests and workshops. Their program is busy: catwalk classes, photo shoots, cooking classes, general knowledge test and many other trials punctuate their stay. Moments that allow the committee to evaluate their skills, but also their attitude as a group and their state of mind.

The regional misses are evaluated by a preselection committee
A member of the Miss France press team was part of this preselection committee a few years ago: “During their preparation stay, the 30 regional misses pass one by one in front of the members of the committee. They speak about the Miss France adventure, their desires and their deep motivations. We also ask them questions about the cause they wish to defend, an element very dear to Miss France which also allows us to better prepare for the year to come.”.

Frédéric Gilbert, producer and general director, is part of the preselection committee this year and told us last year: “There are 11 of us this year (in 2023 editor's note) to choose the 15 semi-finalists, but of course we can also take into account the remarks of a chaperone or the comments of the photographers who meet the misses a lot during this stay”. Frédéric is the only person to know the identity of the 15 semi-finalists: “The bailiff gives me the envelope, it is essential to be able to prepare the broadcast and the different tables”.
