Since 2021, Stéphane Bern has lived in Perche after having lived for a long time in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. He sold his apartment and his furniture to settle permanently with his partner Yori at the Royal and Military College of Thiron-Gardais. Since 2017, the host of History Secrets also has Luxembourgish nationality. “We have a father and a mother. I am attached to my country which is France, in which I work and where I pay my taxes, but Luxembourg is the country of my heart, the country of my origin“, Stéphane Bern told AFP, after having taken steps to become binational and thus have his Grand Duchy passport.
The host has known Luxembourg since his early childhood, thanks to his grandmother who lived there. “I needed to find my roots (…) I love Luxembourg and appreciate it with the eyes of an exile, of someone who left the country and comes back for the good times“, added Stéphane Bern. And no question for the one who presented Sagasa cult show which opened the doors to the homes of stars and big families, to be accused of wanting to avoid tax in France. “I come to Luxembourg every month. And contrary to what people say, I don't go there with suitcases full of money.“

The host, who lives full time in Thiron-Gardais and is involved in saving French heritage, is lucky enough to have another residence in Luxembourg. In 2017, at the time of his interview with AFP, we learned that he had recently bought a house in “the bobo neighborhood” from Bonnevoie. His famous neighbor? Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, whom Stéphane Bern has known for two decades.
The presenter, now 61 years old, is also a great lover of Greece and his real estate assets include, to date, another house on the island of Paros. But, questioned by the newspaper The Parisianhe confided that he wanted to part with it. “I need to rationalize my assets and that's why I'm selling Paros. I don't want to leave behind any debts. But honestly, I don't regret anything“, he said.
