Bad news for Ron Weasley. British actor Rupert Grint has been ordered to pay 2.1 million euros to the English tax authorities.
The disputes between Rupert Grint and the British tax collection department are not new. In reality, the actor has been in the crosshairs of the tax administration for more than ten years for the classification of his income for the 2011-2012 tax year. He is accused of framing the sum of 4.5 million pounds which he declared as capital assets instead of normal income, making him benefit from lower taxation.
After a real legal battle lasting several years and multiple appeals, it was ultimately the tax collection department which won the case. In court, Judge Harrier Morgan ordered Rupert Grint to pay 2.1 million euros. A significant sum for the 36-year-old Englishman who has only made one film in almost ten years and cannot count on the extension of the series “The Cabinet of Curiosities of Guillermo Del Toro”.
