In the show Le Figaro At NightAnthony Delon spoke with emotion about the transformations of modern society. Between criticism of social networks and praise of the 80s, the actor shares his nostalgia for a time when, according to him, freedom and spontaneity still had a place.

Guest of Le Figaro At NightAnthony Delon indulged in a melancholic reflection on bygone eras. “I would have a hard time being 20 at that time.», he confides from the outset, before developing a thought which combines nostalgia and rejection of current codes.

The actor fervently evokes the 1980s, which he describes as a time of carelessness and freedom, a thousand miles from what he perceives in today's world. “We smooth everything out, we cut off the rough edges. We can't say or do much anymore.» An explicit criticism of social networks and the omnipresent surveillance society, which he opposes to an era where we could, according to him, live with more spontaneity: “We could go out, get drunk, have fun, and that was it.“, he remembers. This freedom that he cherishes appears today hampered, in particular by social networks, which he describes as “eye of Moscow» generalized. With a touch of irony, he underlines the paradox of an ultra-connected, but ultimately repressive, world, where every gesture is scrutinized, amplified, and often judged.

“Glorious years”

Anthony Delon, while sketching a portrait of “glorious years» which he regrets, touches on an almost universal observation: each generation idealizes its past. But behind his words is a deep sigh, that of a man attached to a more permissive and less rigid era.
